Cut changeover time with SMED
This week
Keeping the next job's tools on a cart beside the press made job switches much faster. Press 7 has its cart, and press 12, still without one, was as slow as before.
The next job's tools were already beside the press when it stopped, so no time went to fetching them.
We watched this week's job switches on camera and matched them to the ERP job log. Press 7, with its tool cart, switched jobs about 25 minutes faster, and press 12 did not.
One press is close to the goal with its tool cart, and the other presses are not faster yet.
Since last week: The fetching found last week is gone on the press with a cart, but not yet on the other.
Build a cart for the other press, and put two setup people on every switch on both.
